Stone Farm Inn is situated on a small, working farm, so you may occasionally see our friendly farm animals in the surrounding pastures. Our herd includes sheep, goats, and even an alpaca! While they’re adorable to watch and photograph, please remember they are part of our working farm, so we ask that you observe from a distance and do not enter the animal enclosures. For those planning a special event, our beautiful barn and additional outdoor spaces are available to rent for weddings, retreats, and gatherings. We had a fantastic time! Beautiful family get away. It feels like stepping back in time. Very well maintained property. Everything you need. Very spacious. Plenty of room. Beautiful place to walk around. Friendly fur animals across the fence. Definitely a 5 star for us and we will be back!

The place truly is magical! Outside, the surroundings including the animals were all perfect and peaceful. The home and its furnishings were also perfect. We loved the large kitchen island that the 8 of us gathered around each evening of our stay and the coffee options were so amazing!!! The fire pit was also a treat for morning and evening fires. Jessica was a very responsive and accommodating host and really thought of everything for us/our stay! Hope to return again.

We had a wonderful weekend at Stone Farm Inn! We were 5 friends there for a reading retreat. We spent the weekend reading, chatting around the fire pit, drinking lots of coffee and tea (Jessica has lots of devices available to make your cozy drink of choice!) cooking in the fully equipped kitchen, taking relaxing baths in the claw foot tub, reading in the cozy living room, and sleeping well in our super comfortable beds. We also loved meeting the adorable farm animals (sheep, goats, alpaca, and a very friendly cat!). The house itself is gorgeous. So much history and thoughtful touches. It’s surrounded by nature. One of the most famous Madison County covered bridges is 10 minutes away! Note that there is a limestone patio and stairs going into the house. There is only one bathroom, but the tub/shower has its own door, so someone can use the toilet while someone else is showering. There are sleeping spaces for 8, but it fits 4-6 adults best in terms of living spaces. More with kids!

I spent a week at Stone Farm Inn - the most restful vacation I’ve ever had. Jessica’s love for the home, property, and animals is evident. There are so many details to discover and all kinds of magical moments with butterflies, fireflies, a riot of flowers, wise old trees, gorgeous light, and bright stars. Practically speaking, Jessica is super responsive, the space has everything you need, and Winterset is 15 minutes down the road for groceries, gas, etc. So many country roads to explore the fairytale countryside, too!
